Tax and Accounting Links


Need some help finding answers to tax questions?  Can't find a copy of that elusive tax form that the instructions call for?  Need some financial advice?  I have assembled some helpful sites below.  Each one generally contains other links that will help you to your destination.  If you discover a site that you think I should add or find that one of the ones listed is out of date or (as it frequently happens) has disappeared, please  let me know.

Government Agencies

Need IRS info?  The latest regulations, forms, etc. can be found at the  IRS  web site.

The  Franchise Tax Board  maintains a useful web site which provides links to other government agencies.  From this site you can reach the California Home Page and Web sites for the  Employment Development DepartmentInternal Revenue Service , State Board of Equalization, State Controller's Office and Secretary of State.

 Social Security  resources included information abut Social Security taxes, rates and legislation.  It also features an online benefits calculator.

Need to look up the current or historical  Consumer Price Index  figures?

The  Securities and Exchange Commission  web page contains corporate SEC filings in electronic form.  The database is called EDGAR - for electronic data gathering, analysis and retrieval system and is word searchable.

For information on shipping and mailing try the  U. S. Postal ServiceFederal Express  or  UPS .

Totally frustated and want to vent or make suggestions in how to improve the system? Try  The White House e-mail system.

Professional Organizations

The  Society of California Accountants maintains an information filled website with links to many CPA's and their web sites.

The  California CPA Society also has some useful information and links to helpful sites.

Want some technical accounting information?  The  AICPA  maintains a web site with a wide assortment of accounting information including selected articles from the Journal of Accountancy monthly magazine and the CPA Letter and Practicing CPA newsletters.

Financial Firms and Organizations

The World Wide Web is a boon for investors, and a quick surfing session to  Bloomberg Online
shows why.   Bloomberg brings you, free, current financial and world news.

Donate an old car to charity?  You may be able to deduct the market value as a charitable contribution.  To find out the market value check the  Kelly Blue Book  Web Page

Public Library

Even the internet has a  public library and this is it.  A great source for links to background information and numerous on-line publications.
